Oyster was always meant to be the companion piece to the Mussel. 

Mussel was a statement piece. Highly detailed, almost three dimensional study of its own. But somewhere along the way, I found myself taking Oyster even further. 

It become the most challenging drawing I have ever made. The inside of an oyster is so complex, wet, soft, irregular and almost chaotic that translating it into pencil felt almost abstract. Sometimes there was no clear structure for the eye to hold onto and even looking at it becomes overwhelming. 

And somehow, that is what made the piece so fascinating. 

I loved these two pieces together and now the originals are residing together at a Michelin starred restaurant in my own city. There is something incredibly special about knowing that I can simply go and visit them. Seeing them together, in a place that feels so connected to where I am from, is honestly kind of amazing.
