About Sera

Hi there, I’m Sera Akkan, a Turkish artist working from my sunny home studio in İzmir, Turkey. I’m a self-taught painter who could never ignore the lifelong call to create.​

 

Throughout the years, I lived in Milan, Italy for my studies and later completed my business master’s in Munich, Germany. When I finally returned home, I chose to listen to that inner voice and dedicate myself to painting.​

 

I still love being in Europe, surrounded by aesthetic landscapes and good food,  it’s always fueled my creativity and sense of wonder. But no matter where I go, I can never be apart from my land and my people. Someone once said, "Turkey is like an unfaithful lover, it betrays you again and again, yet you still love it." And it’s true. This land, its people, the drama, the movement, and the beautiful chaos feed my soul in ways nothing else can. ​

 

Constantly observing the world around me, trying to make sense of it all and asking questions has always been my way of moving through life. Through my work, I aim to capture feelings and fleeting moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.​

 

My work reflects my desire to reveal the beauty in ordinary objects. I believe even the simplest things can carry deep, personal meaning. I find inspiration in the raw, human experiences of everyday life. Capturing the objects that speak to me and presenting them in a simple, honest way is how my mind and my art naturally work.​
